Invitation to the 4IJS
We are delighted to invite researchers, conservationists, and wildlife enthusiasts to the 4th International Jackal and Related Species Symposium (4IJS), which will take place from October 7th to 10th, 2026, in the breathtaking Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, Romania. The Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development hosts the symposium. The exact location will be announced on this platform.
An educational course "Jackal Soundscapes: Advanced Bioacoustic Monitoring Techniques", designed to enhance knowledge of species identification, applied ecology, and monitoring (including spectral audiograms or sonograms), will precede the symposium on October 5th and 6th, 2026.
We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting event!
Marian Tudor & Ovidiu Banea
TOPICS FOR THE 4IJS
The symposium will address the following topics, derived from the common online meetings of GOJAGE:
1. Monitoring, conservation, and lethal control (hunting)
3. Population ecology, reproduction biology, and behavior
4. Genetics, genomics, and biogeography
5. Movement ecology
6. Community ecology: interspecific relations, prey-predator dynamics, scavenging, and food resources
7. Social aspects of carnivores and mesocarnivores
8. Diseases, control, and prevention of epizootic diseases
We encourage submissions exploring these themes concerning the golden jackal (Canis aureus) and other related species! Here: is a link with the jackal-related species for which we encourage you to submit your work for the 4IJS.
